COOL BREEZE

I came home after surgery and all of a sudden I’m feeling a cool breeze on my leg. I looked down and…yikes...my leg is hairless. Mom once fostered a hairless Chihuahua but I don’t think that I am related in any way. She kicked on the heater and wrapped me in a snazzy polar-fleece blanket. I could get used to this!

Mom’s newest name for me is Marvel-Pup because every day she marvels at my ‘can-do’ attitude. I’m supposed to be taking it easy, but already I’m putting weight on my leg and taking a few steps. In fact, Mom almost had a heart-attack last evening. I was in the computer room with Dad dozing in my cuddle bed when he briefly left to answer the phone. He took a little too long and when Mom came through the kitchen, there I was! I had managed to walk up a little step from the computer room to be where the action was. I don’t think I’ll ever forget Mom’s shriek and startled look on her face! She quickly scooped me up like I was the most precious bag of jewels. Hmm-m-m. In retrospect, I think I must be. She once said that I was a diamond in the ruff.

  2. I'm so glad you are doing well! You must be very careful though. I know you want to run like the wind and I know you will one day but for now, take it easy , at least for your Mom's sake. You sure are one special pup!

  4. I think your hair will grow back in time. For now just enjoy the heating pad and the fleecy blankies. So glad you are doing much better now.

  5. Hi Everyone,
I am doing very well. My doggie siblings went for a nice walk yesterday, but I had to stay home with Dad. One day will be my turn. But in the meantime I'm getting lots of attention.

  6. I like the buzz cut, it shows how lovely your legs are. You put your feet up and think healing thoughts and in no time you will be joining your sibs, leading the pack probably :) You seem like a great dog HoneyBear and one lucky little girl to have fallen into the arms of these caregivers. I wish more stories continued like yours. I nominate HoneyBear as the spokes"chi" for spreading the word about the horrors of backyard breeders and the tragedy of so many lives at stake!!

  7. Hi Stacy (and gang),
My fur is starting to grow back and my first post-op check up is later this week. So all is well. My story was featured in an article written about puppy mill and backyard breeder dogs. I guess I am an ambassador of sorts (smile). There are so many still enduring the horrors of such an environment. My heart wishes that they could know what a warm lap and yummy treat is.

  9. Hi Cira,
Thank you. Mom has been busy plus having computer issues still. One day she and I will post an update. Nothing much new to report. Still taking it easy and being a good girl!
